Simon Terodde: An important goal at an important time

It was a high-class game for 90 minutes. Both teams were looking to get forward and score. It was end to end and played at a high tempo. We were prepared for this, though. We knew it would be an intense game, in which our fighting spirit, togetherness and strength in the tackle would be required as well as our footballing qualities. We showed all of those things today.

Our build-up play was good in the first half, but we were lacking that final pass. We showed the lads two or three moments during the break and they corrected these things brilliantly in the second half. Simon Terodde is always there in dangerous areas. He also benefits from the space his teammates create for him. Overall, we put in a good and solid performance to earn a deserved win. We will keep on gaining confidence with more victories. I’d also like to thank our fans, whose support was great once again.

Lukas Kwasniok:

I’m really happy with the way we played. The defeat is frustrating, even if it isn’t an undeserved win for FC Schalke 04. We were slightly the better team in the first half and Sven Michel had a great chance to put us 1-0 up. We then lost possession too easily after the break. The individual quality of Marius Bülter and Simon Terodde can always lead to goals.

Simon Terodde:

It’s always a lovely feeling when the ball hits the back of the net and you can turn to celebrate with the fans. The goal was an important one at an important time. We grew into the game more in the second half and got our reward with a goal. We defended well as a team and Ralf Fährmann was impressive again in goal. Ultimately, it was a deserved win after an intense 90 minutes.
