Dimitrios Grammozis: It was even nicer to be able to give our fans the win in person

Dimitrios Grammozis:
We’re delighted to take away three points against a strong side today. Firstly, we’re just really happy to have played in a full stadium. I’d like to thank our fans greatly for their support, and it’s even nicer to have given them a victory in person. It was a good game from us from the first minute. Over the past few games, we always had spells where we allowed the opposition to come back into the game, but today we allowed very little. We were well structured in our buikd-up play and knew that we could get forward via the flanks. We had a lot of chances to have come away with more than just one goal in added time. The way the boys played makes me very happy. Congratulations to my players – I hope that this win will give them even more self-confidence.
Jan Zimmermann:
Schalke’s win is definitely deserved when you look at the whole game, but it’s still painful for us. We didn’t manage to play the way we set out to. Schalke were a very strong opposition today. We couldn’t impose ourselves in attack, which brought more pressure on ourselves. If you’re not able to carry out what you’ve planned in a footballing sense, then you have to fight and give your all. That’s what the boys did and therefore I think we could have deserved a point, especially with a fantastic Ron in goal. Despite that, we know that we have to play much better football if we want to pick up points.
Simon Terodde:
We had a really good game today. Over the past few weeks we haven’t performed well but have still won. We had a lot of chances and could have scored more, but in some games it just seems impossible to hit the back of the net. In the last few minutes, we didn’t play out well from the back and used a lot of long balls. Marcin has played in attack previously in his career; you wouldn’t believe it, but he showed it again today.
