Darko Churlinov: I’ll always give my all in any position

Darko Churlinov has returned to Gelsenkirchen from international duty with a spring in his step. "The games went really well for me personally, as I started all three games," said the 21-year-old North Macedonian after his national team’s three draws in World Cup qualifiers: 0-0 vs. Armenia, 2-2 vs. Iceland and 0-0 vs. Romania.

Now, he has his sights set on Sunday’s game against SC Paderborn with the Royal Blues and is feeling positive. “I am happy to be back here and I’m looking forward to the game,” said Churlinov.

He went on to assure us that the tiring process of an international trip did not bother him, and that he is excited and fit to play on Sunday. Chrulinov has felt the support of his teammates and coaches since day one at Schalke, he revealed, before touching on his greatest attribute: Versatility. “I’m an all-rounder and I will always give my best in any position,” he said, adding that he wants to contribute to “the club getting back to where it belongs.” Aside from the team’s season objective, the Stuttgart loanee also wants to make progress as an individual.

I can just tell that Darko is passionate about Schalke 04!

Dimitrios Grammozis

Head coach Dimitrios Grammozis is pleased to have Churlinov at his disposal this season. Grammozis believes that the 21-year-old can play in multiple positions in various formations, be that as a fullback, an attacking midfielder, a number ten, or a winger. “It’s really nice for me as a coach to have this kind of flexibility available. That’s something that will need to set us apart this season,” said Grammozis. “Darko wants to play and help the team with his abilities. I can just tell that he is passionate about Schalke 04!”
